15 Years of Xero!
The 6th July 2021 marked 15 years from the day Xero was officially registered as a company in Wellington, New Zealand by its founder, Rod Drury! This was the first step in bringing his vision of accounting software in the cloud to life and scaling a purposeful global Software as a Service (SaaS) business.
Their journey began at a kitchen table in a Wellington apartment and has now reached offices in more than 20 cities across the globe. A journey Xero described as being “built on the support and belief of our bookkeepers, accountants, the broader Xero partner community, and our people.”
Several members of their foundation team are still with them today – Craig Walker, Fletch Brown, Larissa Paris and Catherine Walker are all celebrating their 15 year anniversary with Xero this year!
Introducing… Xero Day
In recognition of their 15 year anniversary from that first registration, Xero are launching ‘Xero Day’, an annual calendar event celebrating and acknowledging the people, customers, partners and communities who play such an important role in their success.
Supporting Their Communities
Xero describe their purpose as helping improve the lives of people in small businesses, their advisors and communities across the world.
This includes contributing to community causes, so Xero are kicking off Xero Day with a NZ $15,000 donation to the 8 charities they supported through their 2020-21 Xero Community Appeal.
These charities are:
- Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders) globally
- Beyond Blue in Australia
- Women’s Refuge in New Zealand
- Save the Children in Asia
- Advancement Project in the United States
- Black Business Professional Association in Canada
- Samaritans in the UK
- Won Life in South Africa
Xero is proud to support these organisations that help people build mental health and resilience, access frontline COVID-19 support, progress racial equality and justice, provide safety for women facing domestic abuse and equip under-resourced teachers to deliver quality education.
