The Best Website Builders For Small Businesses

Website design is daunting. Trying to find the best website builder for your small business can be confusing. With so many out there, how are you meant to decide which is the best for you?

We all know that a website is essential for any small business, especially in our current pandemic society. Social media can be a great tool for advertising and sharing your business, but a website can give you the ability to create and build so much more.

Having a website also makes a business seem more reputable and established, as opposed to ones who only exist on social media or e-shopping sites.

Of course, if you are looking for something more complex or design-oriented, then hiring a professional is always the best option. But if that is out of your budget, it is still possible to create a simple website with the tools readily available to you online, without the help of a designer or programmer.

We have put together a list of website builders that also have a free version with limited features too.

NinaSites

With NinjaSites you can quickly create user-friendly and professional looking websites, as well as manage all of your content and ensure pages are visible to search engines.

It is great for creating shareable content, such as writing and publishing blog posts. They have a selection of page templates for you to choose from too which makes building the website quick and easy for business owners who don’t have much web and design experience.

Wix

This is definitely one of the easiest website builders to use, especially if you’re focused on the design and customizability of your website. Wix is a great option for artists and photographers, or people who are heavily focused on the aesthetic of their brand. The drag-and-drop style of the website building platform means it is very similar to programmes like Powerpoint.

There are numerous add-ons available, such as form builders, but it’s not a great option for those seeking a e-commerce platform or a fast-loading website.

Squarespace

Another great option for those who want to create a beautifully designed website is Squarespace. After Wix, it is one of the easiest to use with similar drag-and-drop functionality.

It offers elegant templates, blogging, e-commerce, domain hosting and SEO tools.

Shopify

If you’re looking to build an online store, Shopify is one of the most popular options with 1.7 million merchants currently using it. It offers everything you could need for an e-commerce business, with an app store providing tools for email marketing, sales, drop shipping and more.

This might not be the best option for small businesses who are just starting out and have a lower budget.

Square

Square is a powerful e-commerce platform that offers tools and software for everything from point of sale to building your online store to team and inventory management.

This is a great option for those who need an e-commerce solution and want to sell in person too.

BigCommerce

Coming in second to Shopify, BigCommerce is a great option for people who need an e-commerce website builder but don’t know how to code.

They allow the use of third-party payment gateways free of charge, a variety of currencies and it integrates with numerous marketplace systems.

Gator

Whilst Gator has limited advanced capabilities, it’s a basic solution for a small business that needs a one-stop solution for website building and hosting. It also has a built-in stock photo which can be really useful whilst building up your brand and site.
