What is the SME Brexit Support Fund?

If you’re a small or medium-sized business new to importing or exporting you could be eligible for the SME Brexit Support Fund of up to £2000 to help with training and professional advice.

Who is eligible?

You can only get the fund if your business has been established in the UK for at least 12 months or currently holds Authorised Economic Operator status, has not previously failed to meet its tax or customs obligations, has up to 500 employees, and has no more than £100 million turnover.

Only those who import/export goods between Great Britain and the EU, or Great Britain and Northern Ireland, can apply.

If you already import or export goods to a non-EU country then you are not eligible.

What can you use the grant for?

The grant can be used for training on completing customs declarations, managing customs processes, using customers’ software and systems, and learning specific import and export-related aspects such as VAT, excise, and rules of origin.

How do you apply?

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is administering the grants for HMRC.

You can apply online here.

When is the application deadline?

Applications will close on the 30th of June 2021, or earlier if all funding is allocated before this date.
